Grade 4 Girls Compete in "Solve It Like a Girl" Math Tournament
From Grade 4 teacher Charles Franklin: On April 18, a group of risk-taking Grade 4 girls from my classes attended the 15th Annual GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math) Solve It Like A Girl Tournament, hosted by Village School in Charlottesville, Virginia. The girls practiced on their own and with parental support to get ready for the tournament. One of the two teams placed second in the team competition. This was quite an accomplishment for them considering that they had never competed in a math tournament before!
Congrats to all these students for their hard work!
